Ever since Instagram got insanely popular, photography has become one of the most crowded genres in the App Store. With this level of competition, a photo editing app needs to offer something completely unique to get significant admiration. Digiback offers this uniqueness in the form of countless photo effects. Like most other photo editor and effects apps, this Digiback has a few predefined filters that can be used with a single tap. However, the real uniqueness of the app lies in its vast collection of downloadable effects. Even if that’s not enough for you, Digiback lets you combine multiple filters to create a new one of your own. Pretty neat, isn’t it? To top it all, you also get access to social media statistics for photos that you have shared from the app.

Upon launching Digiback, you’ll get a tutorial with a few basic tips to help you get started. Just use the ‘Don’t show tips’ button in case you don’t want to see the tips each time you launch the app. Unlike most other similar apps, you are presented with the camera view by default, without the need to press a button to access it first. This can be really useful when you want to quickly snap a moment. Though before you snap you rfirst photo, swipe from the left and sign in to your Facebook, Twitter and/or Tumblr accounts to set up sharing.

You can preview one of the effects in camera view in real time; just hit the first icon in the bottom bar and select an effect. Most filters are free, but others  will require in-app purchases. Selecting an effect after you have already applied one merges the two, and you can combine as many effects as you want in this manner. Some of the effects are customizable, and you can change their settings like color elements, brightness, intensity, hue and saturation.

Other than shooting new photos, Digiback also lets you make changes to existing images. Swiping from the right on the camera screen allows you to load images from the camera roll. The editing options in this mode are same as those from the camera one, and photos edited in either mode can be shared over all the networks you have chosen to associate with Digiback. The app even displays feedback stats from these accounts, so you get to see the number of comments, likes and retweets all in one place.

Tap the cloud icon in the bottom bar of the camera mode, and you are taken to the ‘Cloud Community’ section of the app. Here, you will find the best filters created by other Digiback users, and all the filters you create get stored here automatically as well. To save a new filter to the presets, just combine several of them together, tweak the settings to your satisfaction, tap the ‘More’ button in the top-right corner, and hit the‘Save Filter Series’ button. This way, anyone can create and contribute filters to the community. The ‘More’ button also allows you to remove filters from the image.

Being a new release, Digiback does need some tweaking before it can be deemed perfect. The app can suffer random crashes that need to be fixed to make it more stable. Also, it would be nice to have a list of all the effects in a filter series before you actually save it as a new preset.
