Install ClockworkMod Touch Recovery On Samsung Galaxy S3 GSM Share

The Galaxy S III gets its due share of the touch based ClockworkMod recovery! Development for this device is just beginning and the pace, is testament to the popularity the Galaxy S, S2 and S3 have garnered for themselves. Earlier we covered a tutorial on how to install, what was an unofficial port of the basic ClockworkMod recovery, but finallt the real deal has arrived on the SGS3 thanks to the efforts of XDA-Developers forum member mskip who also brought us the all in one Galaxy S3 toolkit. The ClockworkMod Touch Recovery is official and has been repacked by mskip into a tar file do that it can be easily flashed via Odin or Mobile Odin. Installation is a breeze, head on after the break for the instructions.

The version you’re about to flash to your SGS III is, and if you’re not new to flashing files via Odin, you know what needs to be done.   1. To begin, you need to put your phone in Download mode. You can do so by pressing the Volume down key + Home key + Power button. Do not plug into the PC just yet.
  2. Run Odin, and make sure everything else other than Auto Reboot is unchecked.
  3. Hit the PDA button and browse to the recovery (tar) to select it.
  4. Odin is now set up, connect the device to the PC via USB cable and once you see it connected in Odin, simply hit the Start button to begin flashing the recovery.

Once the recovery is flashed, the phone will reboot itself and boot into the OS. To make sure that ClockworkMod recovery installed properly, keep the Volume Up + Home key + Power button, letting go of the power button as soon as the device displays the boot logo. Doing so will enter you into recovery mode. If you’re already rooted, you will now be able to install custom ROMs and kernels that are being developed for the SGS III.
