The internet, being a vast network community, also contains various harmful content that can easily manipulate our children’s minds. Pornography, violence, cybercrimes, viruses and whatnot, they all have adverse effects on kids. In order to be on the safe side, it’s better to block certain websites beforehand, so your kids can’t access them. NoVirusThanks Website Blocker is a simple tool that does this job by letting you blacklist any website that you want to block. In addition, you can also filter the traffic by adding certain keywords using its Wildcard feature, which in turn blocks any of the related content to specified blocked websites. Furthermore, you can block all inbound and outbound traffic, and choose to allow only desired websites by specifying their URLs in a Whitelist. More details after the jump.

The tool offers a minimalistic interface design. It contains a total of five tabs named as Blacklist, Whitelist, Wildcards, Settings and Events. The menu bar contains Menu, Protection, Utilities and Help buttons. By clicking Utilities, you can access CMD directly from within the application. The Blacklists lets you specify the URLs of the sites that you want to block. In order to block a website, just click Add, enter the URL of the website, and then click the OK button. You can block as many websites you want by just adding their URLs to the list.

Now, whenever your PC users try to access the blocked website, a notification window will pop up, giving information about the blocked website including its URL, Remote IP, Process and Action. You can however, close it or disable it entirely from the application’s Settings tab.

If you want to block any outbound traffic and just want to make certain sites accessible, you can do so from the Whitelist tab.

As mentioned earlier, the Wildcards feature lets you add certain keywords, so that any content pertaining to that specified keyword automatically gets blocked. For instance, if you want your children to not waste their time by lurking around various gaming websites, simply enter the word games and so on.

From the Settings window, you can configure some options related to application features including Blacklists and Whitelists. The Events tab lets you view all the logged events regarding the website traffic, which includes Date/Time, User, Website (address), Rule, Process etc.

The application is available absolutely for free and supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Testing was carried out on Windows 7, 64-bit.
