PDFDek: Extract Pages From Any PDF Document As JPG/ Image Files [Mac] Share
PDF Print E-mail

PDF is a popular format that works on just about every platform there is, and most browsers have the ability to open these files natively, which means you can forgo your PDF reader altogether in most cases. Since a PDF file is readable on so many formats, you will find that most documents are available in it. While reading a PDF is extremely easy, finding a PDF extractor or editor is just as hard. PDFDek is a Mac app that extracts individual pages from a PDF, and saves them individually as images or PDFs. It lets you specify a page range to extract from, and supports output in TIFF, BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, JPEG2000 and PDF formats.

To extract pages from a PDF, launch the app, and drag & drop the file onto the app window. By default, all pages are extracted as JPGs.

Select where you want to save the output files to from the window that opens. Browse to and select the folder you want to save output files to, and click the Open button (a bit confusing, since it should say Save or Select).

To change which format the pages are extracted to, click Preferences on the app window. Select an output format from the Image type dropdown. You may specify a page range that the app will extract pages to and from, and choose to overwrite any files with the same name.

The app supports extraction to TIFF, BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, JPEG2000 and PDF format. You can specify a default folder to save the files to, from the Copy to: option. The app can come in extra handy if you have a presentation in PDF format, and would like to reference the information from a particular part of it. This is a simple and free extraction tool, and should not be confused with a PDF editor.
